Minor Infrastructure Program

The Minor Infrastructure Program is an initiative under the Queensland Government’s Activate! Queensland 2019-2029 strategy.

The initiative provides targeted funding to eligible organisations to help the sport and active recreation industry deliver new, upgraded and end of life infrastructure projects and works.

Round 1 of the Minor Infrastructure Program closed in early 2023, and below is the list of round 1 successful projects approved in May 2023. Successful projects are to be completed by December 2024.

Round 2 of the Program was fast-tracked in September 2023 with the addition of the $30 million Inclusive Facilities Fund to deliver $45 million in infrastructure projects that enhance community sport and active recreation.

The combined program is known as the Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities Fund and applicants selected from one of the two categories:

  • Inclusive and Accessible: $30 million to support new and upgraded changerooms and amenities that meet universal design principles.
  • Safe Quality and Efficient: $15 million to support new, upgraded and end-of-life field of play and ancillary facilities to meet activity requirements at a community level.

Additional Round 2 funding: safe, quality and efficient projects

On 11 June 2024, additional funding of $9.5 million was announced to assist sporting clubs and active recreation organisations to deliver shovel-ready minor infrastructure projects across the state.
