Active Women and Girls

Delivering greater opportunities for playing, coaching, volunteering, officiating, team management and club management, to inspire more Queensland women and girls to get involved in all areas of sports and recreation.

About the fund

The $15 million Active Women and Girls Program is a ground-breaking initiative arising from the Activate! Queensland 2019 – 2029 strategy, to uplift and accelerate participation opportunities within clubs, communities and organisations to inspire the next generation of female athletes and secure the sporting future of women and girls across Queensland.

Through this funding, clubs and organisations are supported to be trailblazers in promoting gender equity in sports, provide leading resources that cater to the needs of female athletes, coaches and enthusiasts, and to create opportunities for women and girls, particularly in remote and regional communities.

Whether it's talent pathways, coaching and officiating accreditation courses, this funding is a game-changer.

What we’ve achieved

So far, this initiative has provided $8.165 million in funding to 944 grassroots clubs, local governments, and state-level sport and active recreation organisations, contributing to education and training, resources and equipment.

This program is now closed for applications and assessment of applications is continuing. More successful recipients will be announced once this process is completed.
