South East Queensland severe storms
Following the impact of the severe South East Queensland storms in December 2023, six local government areas - Brisbane, Gold Coast, Logan, Murweh, Redland and Scenic Rim - have been activated for a range of disaster assistance through the joint State and Australian Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. This disaster assistance addresses the immediate and long-term impacts from this event.

Tourism voucher giveaway
The Queensland Government allocated a $2.5 million funding boost to aid storm-affected tourism operators in South East Queensland, offering 50,000 $50 vouchers for the GC Summer FUNds initiative, aiming to revive the Gold Coast's attractions and experiences after severe weather disruptions.
