Indooroopilly Canoe Club paddles onward to resilience

12 Apr 2024

The Indooroopilly Canoe Club has recovered from severe damage sustained in the 2022 floods with support from the Federal Government and Queensland Government’s jointly funded Community and Recreational Assets Recovery and Resilience Program (CRARRP).

Brisbane City Council received $343,333 in funding to support the Club, providing for structural repairs including refit and replacement of the storage shed and amenities block which were completely inundated with water during the freak weather event. The new amenities block was positioned on higher ground to make it more resilient to future flooding. The canoe ramp and old pontoon were replaced, and new aluminium racking was installed for skis, canoes and paddle board storage.

Repair work commenced in June 2023 and was completed in January 2024.

The upgrades have already attracted an influx of new members to the club and overwhelmingly positive feedback has been pouring in from the community for the support of fitness across all age groups.
